Strangles (Streptococcus equi) in Ontario, April 21, 2026

Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed at a boarding facility in Simcoe County, Ontario. On April 18, 2026, a 10 year old Draft-cross Mare presented with a draining submandibular abscess. Infection with S. equi was confirmed on April 21, 2026. 4 additional horses were exposed.
