Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in the Regional Municipality of Durham, Ontario. A 19 year old Paint gelding was examined for a unilateral nasal discharge which was confirmed positive for S. equi on December 31, 2025. The horse is isolated from other horses at the facility and horses with direct and indirect contact are being monitored.
