Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in Essex County, Ontario. On February 9, 2026, a gelding presented with fever, intermittent cough, and nasal discharge. Infection with S. equi was confirmed on February 12, 2026. The horse was vaccinated against Strangles.
