Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in Dufferin County, Ontario. A 12 year old Warmblood gelding developed an abscess on the outside aspect of the jaw. The abscess was positive for S. equi. There were no new horses on the property. The facility owner, working with their veterinarian, has instituted voluntary animal movement restrictions and biosecurity protocols.
