Health Assessment and Disease Investigation Services at University of Calgary

Share:
The Health Assessment and Disease Investigation Services (HADIS) is based out of the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) and as of March 2021 is in the early stages of development, but has been preceded by the University of Calgary Disease Investigation Unit, operational since 2008. HADIS will investigate issues in both domestic and non-domestic animals with most investigations focusing on cattle, companion animals, cervids, horses, poultry, small ruminants and swine. Investigation topics under their mandate will include biosecurity, contaminants/hazards, emerging/endemic/production-limiting diseases, vector/vector-borne diseases and zoonotic diseases. Investigations are launched when an issue is brought forward by a veterinarian.
