Whirling disease is suspected in fish located in Emerald Lake, in Yoho National Park, BC. Some of the samples collected on August 21, 2023 tested positive for whirling disease on September 26, 2023. Parks Canada has closed Emerald Lake, along with surrounding bodies of water, in order to prevent spread as the positive test is investigated.
